Try These 8 Things To Curb Your Yawning

Despite having a good sleep of 10-12 hours previous night, you were yawning in front of your boss during the presentation. Or you go out on a date with your girlfriend and yawn halfway. You might feel tired or want to take more sleep but the other person thinks that you are either getting bored or not interested at all.

Yawning is a natural body process. There is nothing wrong in it but when it happens excessively at wrong places, it turns out to be embarrassing. We bring you some tips to curb excessive yawning.

1. Consume Cold Food And Drinks

Cold items like ice water, ice tea, cold coffee would prevent yawning. Cold foods like watermelon, yogurt or cucumber will also work. Cooling your body temperature helps to curb yawn.

2. Take Deep Breaths

Inhale through nose and exhale by mouth. Oxygen intake to the body increases if air is inhaled through nose. Low oxygen causes yawning.

3. Humor

Laughing can stop yawning. Either watch a funny video or read funny memes and jokes. This actually works.

4. Take A Break

Sometimes sitting in the same position at a stretch can cause boredom and fatigue. Take short breaks and walk outside or chat with your friends.

5. Press The Adam’s Apple Gently

Adam’s apple is a small bump in front of your neck. Gently pressing this can suppress yawns. However, be careful with this tip.

6. Have A Right Posture

Sitting on desk exerts pressure on your lungs which causes yawning. Try sitting in the right posture to avoid it.

7. Take A Power Nap

Constant yawns can actually occur due to lack of sleep or tiredness. Take a power nap of 15-20 minutes and resume with your work.

8. Don’t Open Your Mouth

Whenever you feel like yawning, try to keep your mouth closed. It might be difficult since it applies pressure on your jaws but it curbs yawning to some extent.
